A 10 Step Routine For Daily Meditation

There are several ways to do a meditation practice, whether you are just starting, experimenting with different ways, or just looking for a variation of your own. Here is one daily practice you may want to try for a week.

A Ten Step Routine for Daily Meditation:

1. Find a comfortable position either in a chair with your feet flat on the floor, on the floor with a pillow, or sit next to a wall with a pillow behind you. Now close your eyes.

2. Place your hands on your lap either palms up (receptive) or palms down (grounding). Make sure the distance from your body is comfortable, not straining.

3. Take a deep cleansing breath and exhale slowly. Scan your body from head to toe and make any necessary adjustment to your body position. The goal is to be comfortable.

4. Silently and in your mind ask yourself these questions: Who am I? What do I want? How may I serve? Your answers will vary from day to day and that’s okay.

5. For about one to three minutes just breathe normally. Notice your breath, the inhale and exhale, inhale, exhale. Just relax, don’t try to direct your breath or count.

6. Clear your mind and intend to just be still. If a thought comes in just let it go by, don’t analyze why it’s there or what it means. Observe it and let it go.

7. Now insert your mantra or use the words ‘So – Hum’. ‘So’ on the inhale and ‘Hum’ on the exhale. “So Hum, So Hum, So Hum…’ Do this for fifteen to twenty minutes.

8. If a thought wanders in, which it will, don’t jerk your thought out nor force the mantra in. Gently focus on your breath again and continue repeating your mantra.

9. At the end of your set time, remain in your meditation position with your eyes closed and place your attention on your heart. Think of the many things you are grateful for.

10. Take in a deep cleansing breath and verbally whisper ‘Thank you’. Remain sitting with your eyes closed for a few minutes before resuming any activities, even walking.

Once you get into a routine you will find it’s easier to maintain your daily meditation practice. And with daily practice you will come to understand that the rewards gained from this discipline are well worth the effort of maintaining that routine.

A majority of people get too involved in what they believe to be pressing, urgent matters only to realize later they are thinly disguised time wasters.

A friend of mine, who is a successful entrepreneur and owner of his own Real Estate company identifies with this point. His focus of late is teaching his team and support group to define for themselves what is truly important and what is really urgent.

He has a saying he uses which drives the point home on the number of times he is interrupted in a day with what his colleagues perceive to be important matters. He calls it Death by “do you have a minute”. Interrupted enough times it can seem like death attempting to get your own important matters attended to.

Defining an important matter and urgent matter is necessary for you and your team to attain the maximum productivity possible. Urgent matters are things that come up during a day that can negatively affect or upset the balance within your business or life. Situations such as a major client is disgruntled with his perceived lack of

service or the water pipe in the bathroom upstairs has sprung a major leak and the living room is now your indoor swimming pool. These are urgent matters.

Simple One Week Detoxification Guidelines

Begin by drinking half your body weight in ounces with fresh lemon juice. I do one half lemon juiced per day and add it to my water. 
Eat only organic whole foods (see above). This means no fast food or highly processed foods including organic ready-made meals that have additives and preservatives. Avoid meat preserved with nitrates like lunch and cured meats. Lunch meat that does not have nitrates is fine (quick tip: wrap nitrate-free lunch meat in romaine lettuce with oil soaked olives and fresh tomato and avocado). 
 Avoid refined sugar, alcohol and caffeine including chocolate and coffee. Sweeteners like honey, agave nectar and stevia are fine. Do not use artificial sweeteners like Equal, Splenda or NutraSweet as these are toxic to your liver and nervous system.
Take a fiber supplement like psyllium or flax meal (found in the health food section of most grocery stores) away from food at night before bed. The serving size should have approximately 5-8 grams of fiber and should not have any sugar or food coloring added. If you need to enhance the flavor add it to fresh juice.
Exercise moderately to enhance circulation and increase sweating for release of toxins. Sauna or hot Epsom salt baths (4 cups per bath for 30-60 minutes) in additions to exercise are great ways to increase sweating and release of toxins. Remember to hydrate well if you are sweating in a sauna, bath or with exercise to avoid dehydration. I recommend 30-60 minutes of exercise 3-5 times per week. If you are just starting out, begin slow and work up to this goal. If you have circulation problems consult your physician before starting an exercise program or going into a sauna or hot bath for extended periods of time.

By making sure you punch as hard as you can, you’ll get the most out of this exercise.

Half push ups are also a fantastic way to strengthen those arms. Half push ups are different from regular push ups in that the knees carry the strain. Half push ups are less strenuous, but their impact is less to build muscle than to tone and define the arms, and more importantly, melt that arm fat.

If you pursue a routine of these 3 arm exercises on a regular basis, you’ll notice over time your arms become stronger, slimmer and more toned, and you’ll get rid of any unwanted fat around that area.

How can you become successful just by repeating phrases to yourself?

It might help to keep in mind that we ALL use affirmations whether we realize it or not. Usually when we talk about them, we’re referring to purposeful, POSITIVE affirmations that we use with the intention of manifesting something. But in the end, everything you say and think is an affirmation. A phrase like “I am such an idiot,” even when mentioned in daily conversation, is just as much of an affirmation as “I am lovable and successful.” Since our thinking is so tightly linked with our actions and behavior, doesn’t it make sense to make sure our thoughts to be more in alignment with what we want?
